Famous in the past as both a fishing port in the 1900's and a major seaside resort up until the seventies.

The fish industry was replaced by the oil industry but that has mainly moved now to Aberdeen. However the port remains busy and recent European funding has enabled the building of an extensive outer harbour to attract larger shipping.

The holiday industry lives on but on a smaller scale. Well known for its golden sands Great Yarmouth is still bustling during the summer months.

The historic quayside area has museams and displays depicting the towns rich sea going past.
